After a successful 14-month run, the Windy City in Motion exhibit has now been closed. Below, you can find a summary of the event.
We are pleased to announce that effective August 16, 2016, our all-new exhibit, Windy City in Motion: Movies + Travel in Chicago, is on display at Chicago Union Station! This exhibit showcases transit and terminals throughout Chicago in some of Hollywood's most classic films. Windy City in Motion is a collaboration between scholars at the Chaddick Institute for Metropolitan Development and the Digital Chicago program at Lake Forest College. We are grateful for support from the Tom E. Dailey Foundation toward preparing this exhibit.
The exhibit is on display in the northeast corner of the magnificent Great Hall, Union Station's historic waiting room. Please consider attending our exhibit Opening Reception in the Great Hall on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 from 4:45 - 6 p.m. Free. Brief remarks at 5 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. Among those attending will be Joseph Schwieterman, author of the Terminal Town book, and Rachael Smith, exhibit curator. Autographed copies of Terminal Town will be available for sale at a discounted price.
